SCRANTON — A Scranton man who attacked his girlfriend over a game system chair is facing charges, according to a criminal complaint.

Francis Frankenfield, 36, of 830 Crown Ave., is charged with strangulation, assault and harassment.

At about 11 a.m. on Oct. 27, police were called the residence for the report of a domestic incident.

In court paperwork, officers noted they had been called to the address several times previously.

Officers spoke with Ashley Sobol, who told them Frankenfield hit her with shoes and grabbed her by the throat.

Sobol showed officers black and blue marks from several days prior, but didn’t have bruises or marks that day, according to the criminal complaint.

Juvenile witnesses told police that the couple was fighting about a game chair that was removed from the room.

They said Frankenfield had thrown shoes and then grabbed Sobol by the throat.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 13 before District Judge Alyce Farrell.

Frankenfield remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.
