McDonald's Cursed Gaming Chair Lets You Reheat Burgers

May 14, 2023

McDonald's is giving away a special edition McCrispy-themed gaming chair to one lucky UK customer, who can use it to keep food warm while playing.

McDonald's is giving away an extremely limited-edition gaming chair in honor of its newest sandwich, one that can keep a player's dinner warm during an intense play session. The popular fast-food chain has had several gaming-related promotions over the past few years, ranging from special Pokémon cards in the UK to an exclusive Overwatch 2 Tracer skin that could be unlocked using the McDonald's app.

Earlier this week, McDonald's announced its latest video game-related giveaway, which is being done to celebrate the release of the McCrispy chicken sandwich. McDonald's (via TheGamer) is giving away a limited-edition branded gaming chair to one lucky customer, exclusively in the UK. Dubbed the "McCrispy Ultimate Gaming Chair," this rare leather seat is decorated with a McDonald's logo on the head cushion and an orange, burger wrapper-like McCrispy pattern down the front. Some other unique touches include cup holders and a hot box to keep burgers or chicken sandwiches warm while playing. All of these can be switched between the chair's arms to account for the player being right or left-handed. This specially licensed gaming chair also includes two reusable McCrispy napkins to wipe away the inevitable post-dinner mess, and the seat itself is designed to be cleaned easily.

This one-of-a-kind chair isn't the only product to combine video games and heating food. In 2020, KFC jokingly unveiled the KFConsole, a gaming device that can keep fried chicken warm during a play session. While it was never officially stated if the KFConsole is a legitimate gaming system or an elaborate marketing scheme, almost two years have passed since it was revealed, and there's still no word on when it might release.

It can be hard to see the appeal of a McDonald's-themed gaming chair that players can eat in. A mess is still a mess no matter how easy it is to clean up afterward, and many players might be put off by the idea of having their gaming room smell like a greasy chicken sandwich and fries. Still, McDonald's has produced other gaming gear in the past, such as a limited-edition PS5 controller in Australia that was eventually blocked by Sony due to a lack of proper authorization.

It doesn't look like the McCrispy Ultimate Gaming Chair will face the same kind of legal roadblock, though, as the contest to see which lucky (or unlucky) gamer will take this McDonald's-branded seat home is already well underway. The McDonald's McCrispy gaming chair giveaway will last until the beginning of next week in the UK, and the internet is already buzzing over the novelty of a gaming chair that can also keep play-session snacks warm during heated multiplayer rounds.
